DIY: Two Ingredient Immune Boosting Recipe

Boosting your pet’s immune system is a great way to help them stay healthy, especially when seasons change. Incorporating vegetables and fruits rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Antioxidants in the diet, help the body fight off infection.

There are many ways you can incorporate these fruits and veggies into your dog’s diet and we’ll share our favorite approach today - A Smoothie/Juice!

A juice when prepared from the right combination of fresh whole ingredients can be a medicine. The solid/fibrous parts help metabolize the liquid parts and vice versa. So here is a simple, super-food smoothie recipe to pack those antioxidants into your dog’s bowl!


  • ¼ cup Kale
  • A few blueberries
  • Strawberries & Black Berries (Optional)


  1. If you're using baby kale, just rinse it and pat it dry; if you're using larger, more mature kale leaves, you'll want to trim it a bit. The final texture of the smoothie will benefit greatly from taking a moment to not just cut off the stems but cut out and discards the thick ribs that runs up from the stems and through the center of kale leaves. Roughly chop the de-stemmed kale leaves.
  2. Put the kale and berries in a blender and whirl until smooth. Really let it go for awhile, you want that kale nice and cut up! Add some water if needed to help blend the ingredients.

To serve pour the 1 tablespoon smoothie over 1 cup of your dog’s ayurvedic food. You can enjoy the remaining smoothie :). We recommend that you blend it just before serving and use it immediately for maximum benefit.

Remember, that too much of a good thing can be bad, so moderation is key. We recommend using this approach to support the immune system one week prior to change in season and one week after the change.
